How's this for a warm TriAxis lead tone?

Lead 2 Green all the way. Deep and Modern on the 2:90.

Check it out over a Satriani backing I did.

Great tone and playing! 8)

I've always had doubts about the Triaxis and I've never been able to try one myself, but this confirms for me that its pretty warm and sweet sounding. I used to own a 2:90 and thought it delivered great lead tone for being a 6L6 amp. I think this is due to the mid-spike it gets from the Simul-Class circuitry.

Here's a Satch solo I did over a backing track using my Mesa Studio Preamp:

Satriani has almost always gotten his lead tone from driving the input of his amp hard and cooking the power tubes, rather than relying on preamp gain stages. I think what we're proving here is that these Mesa preamps really can sound like an amp that's being pushed to its limits; and deliver that tone at any volume or direct to a mixer.

I'm tired of this tone already! I can do a lot better.

BUT, I have some new speakers comming by the end of the week. Look for a new clip then.
