I'm looking at a used Mk IV but the R2 indicator light on the amp does not function. (The R2 light on the pedal works fine. ) Is this easy to replace or something that requires professional help?

Is this an indicator of any other problems or just a bad LED?

no dude real easy, just find a LED that will would work. and un soldier the old one out and put the new one in. Just make sure the new ones coloured leads match the old one. Black one where the black went-red/sometimes white where the it was.this will make sure the polaity it right.

According to the owner this one appears to be intermittent. It works sporadically. Sounds like it's not a showstopper from a purchase perspective.

Thanks for the info!

Sometimes when I don't play my MK IVB for a few months it takes a few minutes for the LED voltage supply caps to charge.
Even if the LED itself is bad, you can cut the old one out leaving the leads on the circuit board and solder a new one to the old leads.
It's much easier than ruining a circuit board.
