someone local has a 2x12 Recto Vertical cab for sale for $300 with a custom flight case, and I was thinking of maybe picking it up.

i cant seem to find any reviews on this one.

is it any good?

i'm trying to justify it.

when i asked the guy where the casters were (no wheels on cab in picture), he told me he didnt have the wheels anymore, that they were on the case.

i already have 2 standard recto cabs (want to sell one), a 2x12 horizontal that i have been using...do i really need the vertical too?
i do need to bring a cab with me everytime we practice, so that flight case could come in handy...but i have to wonder how much weight that flight case adds! hehe...

i was saving the money for a Stiletto Cab (now that i sold my Dual Recto and bought the Deuce), but still want to use the Recto cabs for my Rack gear.

sheesh.

i have too much stuff.

anyway, tonally, how is the vertical 2x12 compared to the Horizontal 2x12?

IMHO, it is definitely worth a try, if only because it is a great deal. You can always decide later which one you'd rather keep.

Side note: if you pass on it, could you give me the lead?? I notice you're in Sherman Oaks and the seller is local to you ...I could be there in a heartbeat. Let me know as I would love to have a 212. Otherwise, enjoy the massive tone! :D

i might have the horizontal for sale if i like the vertical.

i'll let ya know.

i had'em both, i like the vert cab more. the vert cab is larger internally. I think it sounds bigger.

I am wondering how old this must be.

i dont see any of the new ones saying "boogie" anymore...

Ive got a vert and 2 horizontals. I definitely think the horizontal has a bigger low end. I dont know which one has more space inside, it seems like they are close with the horizontal being 17 1/2x30x14 1/4 and the vert being 27 7/8x23 5/8x 14 1/4 (11 1/2 top). The vert projects sound better, and I feel it is more balanced than the horizontal. Either way, you cant beat either of the Mesa Recto 2x12s.

Glad, you are enjoying it!

Anyway, I do like the sound of the vert 2x12 over the horizontal, but for fusion, blues, jazz, etc... both cabs are a little too boomy for my taste, especially when playing clean.

Excellent!! So give us your tone report of both. An A/B comparison would be great. BTW, what kind of music you play?

And yes, keep me in mind should you want to lighten your load :)
