That was my first impression too. :?

I've heard of RCA's but don't know much about them...

Dude, 1950's Rca's pair of 12 ax7's .. there worth a try hey.. this is the best way to try out new tube's.. i just thought RCA's are heap's more expensive than this.. it was only $30 buck's ahah

Hey Shep,

I'm in your corner, mate. RCA longplates are not as common as the shortplate versions. Best thing is to listen to them in your amp both clean and dirty. Bet for clean at least they kick any modern production tube to the curb...I own a few RCA 12ax7 short plate/halo getter and 7025 short plate/halo getter, and they are fine tubes for the classic Fender sound. Huge bass and sparkly top. That seller currently has some nice Japanese Mullards listed, they tend to be brighter, more like a bugle boy Amperex shortplate type than a less bright Mullard on top, with the classic Mullard shortplate bottom and mid, very very well made tubes that tend to be pretty even between the two triodes and very long lasting. It's fun to buy a tube that you don't know how it's gonna sound. have done that many times and been well rewarded.

Just bought a Toad Suck Tones 6094 custom class A amp head that will flat out kick any two el84 amp to the curb tonewise, 18 watt Marshall type eater fo sho, it has the very rare Bendix 6094 power tubes that typically run 150 bucks a pair... I didn't know how it was gonna sound, and after getting it, it turned out to be an amazing build quality and sounding amp...after I replaced the current production JJ 12ax7's in V1 with a Syl 50's long blackplate, a 60's Tungsol 12ax7 longplate square getter in V2, and a very rare and balanced Syl short blackplate square getter for the phase inverter. Keep up trying new old or used old stuff, you'll be better off and have more control over your tones than the guys leaving Harmony Central type comments on your thread...;)

Sorry, I guess I should have been a little more 'constructive' there

I guess my point is that sometimes its best to research before the purchase. I've seen so many scams/high prices (especially on Ebay) lately, and hate to see people ripped off simply because they did not do a little homework first.

Well i got them and they sound better than anything i have ever played before.. i rate these tubes higher than the spare tungstrum's my C+ came with,JJ,reissue mullard's,Eh,sovtek ,groove tube and tung sol... Yes they are that good..

these sound perfect in my mk IV V1 .. REally nice sounding gain with a bass end that Doesn't get flabby or tubby at all.. but it's still huge bass response..

Anyway.. these are good tube's get them if you can..

I have quite a few vintage RCA tubes, mostly 7025 but also some 12ax7. They made a great tube. If you choose your sellers carefully you can get some amazing stuff. Preamp tubes tend to last a long time. Scout your local thrift stores and antique shops for vintage tube organs and phonographs. If you get them cheap enough you can score some nice tubes. Often you can sell the amps and speakers on ebay for what you paid for the thing in the first place. More than once I have given the organ back to the thrift store after stripping it and they sold it to somebody anyway!! :D :) :(
