How do I get video from my Hi8 Camcorder to my computer?

I have started recording demo videos of some mods and custom amps.
I have an older Sony Hi8 camcorder with a USB out.
I have installed the drivers and my computer can see the camera, but I can't figure out how to get the images from the camera to the computer.

Of course, the camcorder is 8 years old and we've moved 5 times since then so I don't have any idea where the disks might be.......


Is there a software program that I can download that will see the camcorder and allow me to transfer the videos to the computer?

you need hardware.

probably something along the lines of firewire.

The camera has a USB port on the back of it.
I called Sony and had to re-order the software disk that came with it. I had already downloaded some free ware, but apparently my camera is a little too old to work with it.
