How can I tell if my 20/20's been (deep) modded?

I remember reading a while back that there was a deep/depth mod for the 20/20, and not really paying much attention to it since I didn't have a 20/20 at the time.

So today I was messing around with my recently-acquired 20/20 and Studio preamp and noticed that outputs A & B on the preamp sounded different... one was darker (almost muddy), the other brighter. After spending a bunch of time fiddling around with the preamp to no avail, I realized it was actually an issue with the 20/20... side A is dark, side B is bright. So I'm wondering if one of the previous owners attempted the deep/depth mod on only one side? Or could there be other causes (such as a funky preamp or power tube in the 20/20)?
