Hi everyone,

I am really trying to figure this out, but I'm not genius at this so I hope you can help me figure out my problem here. I am trying to get the G-System to talk with the CFX4 and obviously have that talk with my Dual Recto but I'm having no luck.

I have looked at the instructions on how to set up the CFX4 100 times with the Change Channel (kind of confused on this part), Control Configuration (Put in Latched Mode), and Operating Mode (Put in Program Change Mode). I want to set up my G-System so when I stomp on a pre-configured patch it will change my effects within that patch and the amp channel (via the CFX4).

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks guys!

What cable are you using to run from the CFX4 to the DR? Usually the cable he builds is designed for placement between the switcher and amp. I have a nomad 55 and use the cable that came with the amp. If you use a normal midi cable which works to then then be sure that the cable is in correctly. Rotate it in the socket until the right combination of pins are connecting properly. I had issues like this and couldn't work out why the amp wouldn't switch. Is the CFX4 receiving the program change messages ok? If not you may need to check the midi channel number. Finally after all that ask Mario, he's a cool guy as you would probably know already.

Its a cable Mario custom made for my DR. My problem isnt my wires or connections. My problem is I don't really understand MIDI mapping and I think I have it down and it should work, but its not. I dont understand how to map what on my G-System to what on my CFX4 to get it so for example when I stomp on patch 1 it switches to clean (green) channel on my DR and chorus and delay and when I stomp on patch 2 I get distorted (red) channel and reverb. I have the effects programmed in but I dont understand how to get the G-System and the CFX4 to talk to each other.

I have literally spent hours on this and am pulling my hair out. Anyone who can help give me some step by step instructions or any help at all is GREATLY appreciated.

Let me start off with (I am not a CFX4 owner or G-system)

This might sound like a dum question, but is the midi output of the G-system on?

Also this should not affect it but also make sure the “midi through” on the G-system is on.

Also make sure the G-System is set to OMNI (for now) check out the directions of the G-System and make sure it is set to send “PROGRAM CHANGES”. Stay away from using “CC” setup on the CFX4 stick with “Program mode”.

Chances are very good that the devices are just not talking and it is most likely the G-system that needs to be looked at.
