Hi Guys

Its my first post here ive been having some issues with my 2007 stilleto deuce amp head recently.

I have recently replaced two pre amp valves 12ax7 in position v1 and v2, after following advice i couldn't isolate the issue down to replacing one 12ax7 because no matter which one i replaced by swopping it out with a known good one the hum and hiss sounded the same as before.

After doing this i then also changed all four power tubes (EL34's) after advice from a mesa rep in the uk.

Before i did this i was getting a lot of hiss in any mode of the amp be it clean or the overdrive channel.

When i use the amp now i only get hiss issues in the fluid drive channel of my clean channel and the highest overdrive channel settings.

Could it be the drive tubes need replacing? Could it be all the 12Ax7's need replacing. I've play pretty loud for the last three years at least five hours a week in band practices. This is the first time ive changed out the valves and pre amp valves listed.

I heard from a music shop worker it could be the fuse (looks fine have looked) or a circuit board error?

I use wah, digital delay, chorus, big muff pi, small stone, voodoo labs tremolo in the main input and i might try putting the chorus and delay through the fx input. Could my effects be the problem? Ive recently bought a new guitar lead for my guitar input.

Sorry for the big message starting to annoy me this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris

The weird thing is i have put a new pre amp in v2

Any ideas anyone? Ive been reading the manual and talking to various customer services.

Try using a Mesa SPAX7 in V1.
It helped bring down that hiss type noise in fluid drive mode about 20% maybe more... and tighten up the over all sound of the amp. I like what this tube did.

Mesa Ace Head
Stiletto 4-12- v-30
68 Les Paul Custom
Area 51 wah
Klotz LaGrange Cables

Cheers man might try that. There pretty expensive though in uk £25!

Do you think i should just replace the drive pre amp tube at v5. I read in the booklet this might solvve the issues?

I suppose ill just re tube the whole thing as its never been changed before.

Anyone else chip in with any ideas? Im going to ring a amp tech tomorrow.
