Help! ripping sound when i turn on my amp

I have a Mark V head and lately when i have turned it on it has made a ripping sound like tearing paper or zipping up a coat. anyone know what this is/ having the same problem?

Are you putting the amp in standby (and waiting a minute or so) before you power down?

Does the ripping noise only last a second or two or is it constant? Is the footswitch plugged in? My first thought is the channel switching relays.

I believe he is referring to the noise that can happen when you turn volume up or down. It is a similar sound to moving a cable around in a noisy guitar output jack.
