i have a v-twin preamp. when i got it, the wire for the power supply was screwed up so i just went to best buy and bought a universal ac adapter. the power adapter is a JEN1700. i put new tubes in and everything but when i try to use it nothing comes out. in order for me to get any sound i have to turn my guitar volumes all the way up and it just crackles a bit if i hit the strings really hard.

the lights on the pedal come on and there is obviously power going to the tubes. could the power supply not being giving it enough juice? does anybody know why this could be happening?

Check the ma rating and make sure they match the origional power supply as well as tip polarity. Is the power supply un-fixable? If its just a wire then splice that ***** back together and try it out.

yeah, its one of those ac adapters that adjusts itself to the voltage input and out you need and wattage.

the wire of the original is unfixable...the tip broke off. i guess i could splice the end of the new ac adapter with the wire of the original. will that work though? any dangers to the pedal if i do that?

A/C adapters usually have a switch for tip+, or tip-. You really should call Mesa for the exact specs of what you need to power the V-Twin. That adapter you have might not be able to supply enough amperage to fully power up your pedal.

Hi Guys...I just wanted to help out...The VTwin Pedal uses 12 Volts AC not DC.

It sounds like the adapter that you bought was one of those adapters that has switchable voltage settings for the output...those adapters are DC.

You need an adapter with 12 Volts AC on the output...with AC there is no polarity so it doesn't matter which wire goes where on the plug end.

Here's the good news...you didn't damage anything by putting DC on the input of the V-Twin.

Also Make sure that the Transformer is rated for 1000mA
