I just purchased an Express 5:50 off ebay and received it yesterday. This is my first tube amp mind you.

Ok, I'm having a problem and it's driving me insane at this point - I cannot get ANY sound from the amp! I've checked all the basics - cables, amp switches, etc. Power amp tubes look fine, fuse looks fine. Reseated both the preamp and power tubes, detached/attached the speaker cable, check'd the speaker cable and the wire to speaker connection, and yes, double checked to make sure the volume was up and not in stand-bye mode. In my attempt to isolate the problem I noticed the v2 preamp tube is not lit up like the others, but it is warm. Would a bad preamp tube cause no sound at all? Heading to GC to get another preamp tube, I am praying this is the problem but until then I wonder?

The only thing I can hear is white noise and that's ONLY when I turn up the volume for the engaged channel.

Do none of the channels work? Have you tried it in 50w and in 5w? Make sure you've just got your guitar plugged into the amp with no effects to eliminate all possibilities. Buying one more tube couldn't hurt and swapping it out with all the positions.

V-2 is the first tube in the signal, for this series amp. Replace it first.

Yep...that's exactly what it was. V-2 preamp tube was shot. Replaced it and worked like a charm!
