Help Me, I don't want to hurt my head!!!

I have tried to run a BBE Sonic Maximizer unit thru my f/x loop, and not having the best of luck. Sounds great, but I think I might have something turned up too much. Could someone help me, with some tips on where to start adjusting from?

Can anyone help me out on this issue? Where should I start with my send/return knobs, on back of the amp?

start at noon for both the lo contour and process. my personal sweet spot with all amps/pedals I've used so far...lo contour at 11 o'clock and process at 1 o'clock. Any more or less of either gives me headache.

Amp send to pedal's input and amp's return to pedal's output. Hope that helps. its a very subtle effect but at ear shattering volumes helps cut through the mix and everything!

Now, what would you suggest with the FX loop levels? I've been told to start at 12:00 with those as well. And, not to exceed 12:00 on either knob of the Maximizer.

Are these things true?

Other suggestions are welcome. I'm trying to understand this a little better. I am running nothing but the Maximizer.
