So hopefully by the end of this summer i will have raised enough money to get a whole new rack rig (my first rack). Also this will partly be financed by my parents as a hs graduation gift.
I have no knowledge of power conditioners, etc or any rack specs.

All i know is i want to buy a Triaxis and some Mesa power amp. Im either looking at a 50/50 or a 20/20. I would need something that could be used in a dorm, i have a weber attenuator, rated for 100 watts, so im sure thats set, i can get my 50 watt dc5 to whisper quiet now with it. The question is would the 20/20 be powerful enough for playing out with people. Right now my dc-5 is plenty powerful in my band setting. But is there any tonal difference between the 50/50 and 20/20?

And which would be better for the tone i want? Im like 80% close to the tone i want now with my dc-5, my ideal tone/s are a petrucci like lead tone (think LTE1), fusiony leads(di meola), and mellow jazz cleans.

And on to the cabinet, im looking at a stiletto 2x12, ive heard that is what used to be the rectifier traditional, i know nothing about the advantages/disadvantages of different mesa cabinets.

As far as everything else, like a rack, i dont know. My only pedals are a ts9, bbe green screamer, bad horsie 2, and a boss dd6 delay, and thats really all i ever need. What would be the cheapest rack that would fit the triaxis/power amp? and as far as a power conditioner, is that really necessary?

The price (new) for everything with a 50/50 is
$3,687

And with 20/20
$3,487

Personally, I'd shop and find all that stuff used if you can. You could probably cut that price figure in half. As far as the power amp/cab choices, I'm a 6L6 guy, so I'd vote for the 50/50. The 2x12 Traditional [or Stiletto] cabinet would be a good choice, that or a 4x12 Traditional. [I couldn't believe how much better my TriAxis/2:ninety sounded through the bigger cab! Tighter bass, more defined buttery mids, most excellent!] I've always used a power conditioner, if for no other reason than the surge protection. Wouldn't want my stuff to get fried!

I have a question about the power amp, i would only be using one channel so i would put the volume on the 2nd channel to 0 right? and regarding that, is any mesa power amp two seperate amps, or one amp with two channels. Im asking because if the power amp is one amp with 100 watts, my attenuator wouldnt work as opposed to as if it was one amp one channel with 50 watts
