So I tried the 2 power tubes instead of 4 in my Dual Rectifier.

However, I didn't know I had to switch the impedance.

What impedance am I supposed to switch it to?

I only played it for about 5 minutes like that. Could it have damaged the amp or the speakers???

cant see any damage happening. as far as impedence i am not sure but i did read somewhere on the forum about it. i dont think it is i big issue as long as your speaker impedence is the same or higher value.

There's a lot of debate on this but the general rule is if you remove two tubes (and one rectifier tube if your running in that mode) you should plug into the tap on the amp that is half that of the cabs impedance.

ie 16 ohm cab plug into the amps 8 ohm tap
8 ohm cab plug into the amps 4 ohm tap

I do know some Splawn amplifiers have half power switches and they advise cutting the impedance in half as well.

Always make sure you are removing either the inner or outer 2. I used to alternate for an attempt at even wear.

You won't have done any harm to anything except that you might have stressed the two tubes just a little, and at worst taken a few hours off their life expectancy - if even that. No risk of any damage to the amp or speakers whatever, it was only running at half power so it can't have overloaded anything other than the tubes, and you would have needed it cranked right up even for that. Mesa amps are not very sensitive to impedance mismatches anyway, and the manual even suggests you experiment with them. Don't worry!

Normal operation is Mesa amp: 8ohm plug ====cable====8ohm Mesa cab

Half power is Mesa amp: 4 ohm plug=====cable=====8ohm Mesa cab
