I was Playing my Roadster today and heard a sound I have never heard before and am wondering if I have a bad tube. I have always have kept channels 3 & 4's volumes @ 12 o'clock. Today I tried to turn channel 3's volume less than noon and the volume would waver in and out. At noon the volume does not waver, and it sounds fine. I am really worried because I have a really big show in one week and I don't want any issues. Does anybodys Roadster do this also? - Bill

Yep, I'll second that cathode follower concept. I had the same problem with mine and it was fixed by putting a decent Chinese tube in the the cathode follower positions

i will also agree with the above.. i spent money having my amp serviced just to find out that a russian tube wouldnt cut it in v3 v4. never had a problem since. (so far)

On a Roadster which tube location is it? Just a preamp tube? Thanks guys - Bill

Did you even read the topic in the link I put in my last post? It explains the issue as well as listing these positions in various Mesa amps.

In the Roadster it is V3 & V5 (both are preamp tube positions)

Sorry, somehow I missed that when reading the posts. I appreciate your help, this is exactly what I was looking for. I was reading the posts on my phone during my anniversary dinner and my wife was getting pissed. Thanks - Bill
