Home of The Beatles!
Hello to everyone here at the Mesa boards! 8)

I couldn't find a section to introduce myself so I figured I'd do it here!

My name is Paul Mckenna and I live in Liverpool, England, home to The Beatles :) I'm 17 yrs old. I play and love ALL types of music apart from dance (house) music which i despize! GUITAR IS MY LIFE!

I've been playing guitar for about 4-5 yrs now and it's the best thing ever!

My favourite guitarists are:

Paul Gilbert
Andy Timmons
Mark Tremonti
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
John Petrucci
Pat Metheny
Guthrie Govan

My favourite bands are:

Racer X
Alter Bridge
Mr Big
The Andy Timmons Band
Dream Theater
The Beatles
Van Halen
Lamb Of God etc.

My myspace page is www.myspace.com/pauljmckenna for anyone who is interested in taking a look.

I currently own a Laney VC50 2x12 all valve combo and it's a great amp, but Laney have given me too many problems with the amps from them that I've owned, same with Marshall, so it's time to move on!

I first heard Mesa Boggie in Dream Theater and thought "omg I must have that power and low end" then I heard it in Alter Bridge and thought the same thing. Anyway, so i went in search of a Mesa Boogie amp on the net. Uh ooooh! Expensive! And rightly so, judging the sound that comes from them. So obviously back then I could not afford one.

BUT... now I am planning on getting a Mark IV sometime in 2008, maybe a Triple Rec, but I need something versitile as I play and love all types of music. I am going to buy a recto 2x12 cab in 3 weeks at christmas.

Anyway, that's enough from me as I've probably bored you to death!

Peace!

welcome to the board! I like your musical tastes, you indicated some great artists. You're right, Mesa amps are too expensive here in Europe, but they're absolutely professional and great-sounding amps. I suggest you to take a look at the whole forum, you'll discover many things about Mesa products and that will help you in taking a decision about your next amp.

Welcome to the board! Checked out the myspace, very nice shredding and some great tasteful licks. Enjoy your search for the mesa that suites you, I've gone through a few and still go back to my Dual Recto. Make sure you take your time and try out as many as you can, they are all very different, but very similar at the same time. :D

Welcome.

Must be really cool to be from Liverpool. The Beatles actually started it all, because of the original tunes, harmonies and wit.

Best of luck.

Murph.

Thanx Murphy Slaw!

Hey guys, I was talking the my teacher in college today, who is the head of the music course I'm on. We get along really well and he's an awesome player, a session player.

I was talking to him today in my end of the term tutorial and I asked him what amp he used.

He uses the amp that I want! The Mark IV!

I was very surprised at this, they must be good! 8)

I can't wait to get one!

yeah welcome man! from your musical influences you listed i think you will fit in nicely on this board. lol. Good luck on your mesa search. And welcome to the elite!!! Cause once you go Mesa you never go back!

Haha thanks man! :p

But I think for me I need to rephrase that:

"Cause once you "can afford" a Mesa you never go back!"

I'd rather not go the Marshall route and I hope I don't give into their prices. For a 17 yr old student, Mesa is steep and cuts into my wallet like a mugger with a Samauri sword!
