I am currently running El34's in my Recto, and while they are close to what I'm looking for, its not perfect. I need a little more low end and general warmth. So I ordered some KT77's.

What I'm wondering is has anyone ever done an integrated quad with EL34's and KT77's? Would it be completely pointless? Since the 77's will be properly biased for the Recto, I would think this is a feasible thing to do.

Any thoughts as to the sound? I imagine it would basically deliver half the amount of low end achievable with 4 KT77's........? Or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

I've tried this with great results! Go for a Genalex Gold Lion KT77/Mullard EL34 integrated quad!

Try some different preamp tubes as well...my favorite preamp tubes(at the moment) are a TungSol/Mullard mix...they compliment the EL34/KT77 sound very nicely! But that's my opinion...I play hard rock and I need fat, thick tone and this combo of preamp/power tubes did it quite nicely...I ran them in my 3-channel Dual Recto.

Thanks for the input! Although I will be putting JJ's in my amp, I have been taking a hard look at the TungSol's. And I too am looking for a fatter, creamier sound. Once I got my Recto cab, the 34's have this high cut that I cant dial out. Thanks again! I will be trying this combo!
