I'm 49 years old. I've been playing clubs since before I was legal. I've used some Peavey gear in the past because Skynyrd did, and it was cheap, tough, American made gear.

In the last few years my lead rigs have turned into (American) Fender, and Boogie.

But I saw a Chinese built Peavey Valveking nearly catch fire early this year, and started noticing the Bandit is now Chinese, they have a Windsor that is Chinese, and just wondered if what little reputation this Company ever had, is now gonna die a quite death.

Because they have with me.

May God Bless Randall Smith for keeping Mesa an American built amp. There are so few left. Marshalls (even England has lost an icon) are Chinese, Vox's are Chinese (ditto), Eden bass amps are Chinese.

While never a big Peavey fan, I would give a tad of respect if someone had one. But now, I find myself, even if it's a Classic 30/50 or a 5150, looking at it like junk.

I just have no respect for this Company at all anymore.

i have a valveking 2x12 100w combo, never gave me a problem.

my overall review:
great EQ/presence/resonance controls
overall solid construction
the spring reverb box needed two extra screws installed, but a cheap enough fix
very versatile range of tones
crappy speakers

but overall, for the money i couldnt have asked for a better deal, if i wanted top notch quality i wouldve paid atleast double what i spent on this.

but yes, all these companies going overseas is sickening, hell outsource computer support all day, but keep the cool jobs like amp building in the US please.

by no means I'm a Peavey supporter

But I posted that at least Randall Smith, Tom Anderson, Carvin, Peavey doesn't outsource their manufacturing like say Celestion. Then someone pointed out to me Peavey actually do.

Egg on my face.

Might wanna take a look at the Schumacher transformers in your Mesa. Pretty much everyone has moved offshore in one way or another. That's not as bad a thing as it used to be. Just don't eat the dog food or the buns!!!!!

Headquartered in Mount Prospect, Illinois, Schumacher Electric has manufacturing plants in China and Mexico. Their distribution center is located in Hoopeston, Illinois.

You've forced me to ask another question in the 91' and up forum about Chinese transformers.

This might be good!

Hartley Peavey WAS a real big "Made In U.S.A." guy when he basically owned the World. And he swore to never outsource. He said Peavey gear would always be made in U.S.A.

Then he shot himself in the foot.

At 49 I've owned and worked a ton of Peavey gear playing clubs for over 3 decades. (I was gigging in bars, for money, and drinking beer at the age of 16).

When I see Chinese built Peavey gear it pukes me. I fully realize those of you that are younger are used to it in your normal life, but my generation had pride in buying American made products. And seeing yet another industry, and American Brand, go to China (a Communist Country) is just another brick in the wall.

I'm not a fanatic. I own a computer, and a watch.

And I'm now wondering about my transformer!

Guess that's just the way it's gonna be.

Best of luck.

I go to Peavy forums once in a while. They (peavy users) all have good things to say about Mesa Boogie, I just don't understand why there's too much Peavy-bashing here??
Not me! My favorite amps are the Boogie Mark series after that is my Peavey Classic 30 love this little amp to death!

Hartley is a business man, a very smart business man! Read the Peavey Revolution book and you'll learn a lot about the man. I learned a ton of stuff I had never even thought about before by reading that book.
Peavey's big thing has always been about building quality affordable gear, his move to China had to happen to keep him in that game. Most of the parts they use in the China amps is the same as used here, they just take advantage of the cheap labor. I haven't seen any issues in the China made amps yet.

I'm thinking Mexico on your transformer.

It IS just the simple truth that we are in a global market now. Made In USA doesn't have the same thump it used to back in the day. It was extremely important to keep jobs and $ inside the country.

Sadly, it's less expensive to outsource our raw materials and use their hella-cheaper labor. From a business standpoint it makes sense.

From a consumer standpoint and American, I personally think it sucks.

USA made Mesa's !!!!!!!!!
