Studio Pre, Furman PQ-4, G-Major, 50/50 into a JCM 800 cab with G12L-35's and a 212 with Eminence Governors. Recorded with an SM57 into Guitar Rig Session I/O into Cubase LE4.

Any questions, comments, suggestions?

Sad but true is an old clip where I used a Randall X2 and sorry about the overall crappy playing...

Nice stuff!! Honest feedback on the distorted tones is they sounded somewhat anemic, not very punchy and somewhat ill defined, it sounded like there was no bass in the mix at all. (might just be my ears though). The cleans were nice!! Where are you putting the mike on the cabinet?? Just curious as I have found vast differences in my recording based on where I put my mike.
Keep up the good work!!

It's not your ears, it seemed like pretty much all low end was lost in the recording along with some saturation. The mic was about 5 feet away pointing straight at the cabs. I haven't really done any experimenting with mic placement yet but I will. I'll gladly take some suggestions on where to place it for better results.

From what I understand and have experienced is that sm57's are ment to take in the punch. so put it tight or no more than 1" from your grill. The closure you get to the center the more "ice picky" it gets and the more you go to the outside edge the more the highs drop off but then you loose some dynamics. Try a mid point between teh cone edge and the speaker edge. That jcm800 is a 4x12? - should have lots of boom.

Nice work though! Love metal - licka 8)
