hello all--

I got a new set of tubes from Doug's Tubes, his usual recommendation:
V1 - Tung-Sol reissue 12AX7
V2 - High gain JJ ECC83S
V3 - Penta Labs 12AX7C
V4 - Shuguang 12AX7C9
V5 - Sovtek 12AX7LPS

I just wanted to offer my testimony that the tubes arrived within about two days and they sound incredible. Prior to these I just had JJ-ECC 83s tubes all the way across. It sounded good, but this is markedly better, smoother, clearer on the cleans, more powerful and aggressive in the dirty end.

Here's my question:
I use a triaxis, a 20/20, a digitech 2101 (also has tubes), a tc electronics m2000 reverb, a gibson echoplex. I want to rack all this stuff in a single rack but I'm worried about heat build-up. do any racks come with exhaust fans? do you mound the hot components higher in the rack than cooler components? any other advice?

thanks all!

personally i usually set my rack up with the power amp on the bottom to keep it from getting top heavy. some people like to put a blank in the space directly above the power amp to give it a little breathing room. even when my rack was crammed with stuff i never noticed anything get hot to the point of worry, but i'm not sure how hot the 20/20 runs, i use a 2:90.

Yep, I've always mounted my power amps on the bottom. If you have room, leave a space. If any overheating does arise, you can install a fan at the back of your rig to help cool things a bit.
