Im sure i could tweak this a bit more, but it really shows the dc5's versatility.
My idea was to take my best settings for a jazz clean and then the best settings for Rush using the pull boost on the clean.
So i put the two together and kind of added and subtracted the two settings (i cant think of a better description), so i basically got:
Gain -4
Treble-4
Mid- 3 1/2
Bass- 2 1/2
Presence (usually 0, but a little bit sometimes)
Reverb-5
Master-4
With the pull boost pulled, its a really dynamic low-med gain rhythm tone that can be clean/dirty if picked cleanly (think La Villa intro drone chords) but if picked hard you get that really clear crunchy rhythm great for otherwise muddy and unclear chord voicings. For more gain i use a BBE green screamer and a TS9 to boost it. Each one is set at around 2-3 o clock on everything. With just one engaged, usually the BBE, it gets alot more crunchy but still retains the clarity in chords. And kick on the ts9 WITH the BBE and things get saturated and you get that wicked smooth 70's 80's lead tone that Alex had.
Now i just need a chorus pedal and an Es 355!!!
