Getting sounds as good as videos on Youtube

Hi.

I've got an Express 2:25 Plus, which I run my Fender Strat and Ibanez AR420 through. I've gotten some nice sounds, but many of the vids on Youtube sound much better. I'm comparing the recorded sound on Youtube with my amp-in-the-room sound at home, which isn't necessarily a fair comparison, but anyway: How are amp-in-the-room sounds other board members are getting - are the sounds as good as those vids on Youtube?

For example, I love the sound the Mesa guy Peter has on his guitar in the jam at https://youtu.be/Nz3gHJ73P48?t=4m51s, and I'm not even close using my Fender Strat. Have others here gotten sounds close to that, and if so care to share their settings?

Another example is the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WXpMOObjac video. I love both the clean and gain sound, but are nowhere close to those sounds on my strat.

If Im tracking what your asking- the answer is that they are actually mic-ing the cab and doing some slight post production on the audio - often times even double tracking the guitars and they either video record their performance as they are tracking or simply do a guitarist version of Lip-singing along with the already-recorded and produced track.
And finally they simply sync the produced audio with the video and all of a sudden magic happens.
Hope this kinda answers your question- further more- what you hear when your jamming in your room and what it sounds like being captured from a microphone are 2 slightly different monsters.

Additionally- I don't have a Strat but what I can tell you is that often times when these folks are recording or doing these demo's they dial back on the bass controls and generally increase the mids- it will sound kind of brash to the naked ear but by the time that sound gets processed via microphones and pre-amps and all that jazz it really stands out

That's good to hear. It'll be fun to mic up my amp and do some recording, and see how it sounds. Hopefully mic'ing the amp for a live show sounds great too.

no cab, I'm using weber mass lite attenuator's line out into usb interface, then I load vst cab sim in my DAW.

well Kenneth you obviously have a totally different sound perception than I or other musicians.
I've never heard of anyone else preferring any youtube recording sound quality to the real thing.
What most people (including myself) constantly note is the consistently poor audio quality of all youtube videos.
They are all very low-fi & highly compressed for good & unavoidable reasons of course.
They are so distorted in fact that few sound similar to the actual source.

Do you also prefer
- mp3 recordings to CDs
- el cheapo earplugs to pro quality headphones.
- multi effect modellers to tube amps.
- hand held ghetto blasters to $2000 plus hi-fi equipment :mrgreen:

Answer - No I've never got sounds close to that video and hope I never do hehe
It's impossible to sound like that live with a good tube amp imo.
You might get closer with a $50 solid state no name amp.
But the only place you can sound like that is on a youtube video :mrgreen:
