I've recently purchased a Rocktron VP4 to try and hopefully replace my Recto Pre. I've just finished A/Bing both preamps with my rig and I'm leaning towards the VP4. High gain wise, both amps are pretty similar. The main reason the VP4 is in the lead is that it's 4 channels as opposed to only 2 (sort of 3), the 4th channel has crazy gain if needed and the clean channel is lush unlike the Recto plus midi control is always nice although I had no issues with the Recto and using the G Major to switch channels (or even using just a FCB1010).
I feel crazy to want to sell the Recto and all it's glory but I think this VP4 is better.
Am I mad? Has anyone else tried both units?
