Sooooo......do you have anything for sale?......

Don't be like that. We wouldn't be a good community if we didn't support yem's confession and try and help him out - not try and get him more drugs.

I've had more than a couple of friends fall victim to various forms of addiction (I myself was a pretty bad alcoholic for awhile, and it took moving back home with my mom in a moment of weakness and staying sober for 2 solid years before I could have a casual drink again). The smell of whiskey even now makes me sick to my stomach. Its good you are in a sober situation now. I'm sure its been incredibly hard, but I've seen what methadone does to people - it turns one addiction into another. You just go from being a heroin addict into a methadone zombie, and clinics want you to stay on it forever (for money reasons I'm sure). Its hard to say what you could do to fill your time you once did getting high, maybe get addicted to tone! Spend that drug money on your gear again! Surround yourself with people that are going to keep you sober, not help you revert...thats why I moved back home.

I have had several friends fight through serious addiction, a close friend died from shock of withdraw from heroin and crack. My best friend locked himself in his moms basement and withdrew off of crack without medical attention, he's great now and I still to this day have no idea how painful that had to have been for him to clean up his life. I respect Yem for his confession and wish him luck in his endeavor, its a horrible ordeal to change your life, maybe some of us that worry about our cars and yards could step back and remember that some people are fighting a battle like this. GL bro

Some of you people do not have the story correct. There is no one who has ever died from stopping the use of narcotics ever .... It is a very common misconception.

http://www.drugtext.org/library/books/epidemiology/chapter16.htm

There is plenty more if you look around.

No one has ever died from stopping the use of cocaine ever .... go look it up.

You can die from a overdose of both these drugs.

Anyone who thinks addicts are weak has never tried snorting 20mg of oxy. Try that and tell me that, all things being equal, you wouldn't want to do it again.

Yeah, it's funny (not funny ha-ha, just funny) because we demonize drugs but I know more people who have gotten deep into hard drugs, gotten off, and cleaned up and lived happy lives (that's really what it's about, is being happy) than people who have managed to quit drinking and not just replace it with this sort of zombie state of being a jesus freak or a gym addict or a therapy junkie who was probably happier when they were drinking. I think it's partially because for most addicts it's easier to get out of a junkie lifestyle (still hard, though, especially if you're a musician) than it is for alcoholics who frequently have more "normal" lives, because scoring their drug isn't a huge part of their everyday lives like it is for most people into hard drugs.

My dad's a physician who's really involved in addictions treatment and he says that for years some doctors and coroners who were trying to spare families a little pain would say that someone died of "withdrawal-related crisis" when they actually offed themselves, usually by mixing everything they had that could possibly get them high. That way it looks like the person "went down fighting" instead of just saying "**** it, this sucks".

I believe that is true ..... most people who do or have done drugs never caused themselves or anyone else any problems with drugs.

Most of the ones who did have problems ~ I wonder if they would have had the same problems with or without drugs ?

They just are screwing up theirs and other peoples life's and are just scapegoating the drugs. In fact I have never seen anything else myself.

I do not advocate the use of drugs / alcohol to anyone at all.

Not for everyone but drugs do certainly wreck lives, users own life, their family's life, and other people and their families whose lives have been wrecked by drug releated crime.

What makes you think these people would not commit the same crimes if they never did any drugs ? The other things you talk about as well ..... I agree the drugs well often speed up this process. But it always seemed these people were already doing this with out the drugs.

I believe a person is always responsible for there behavior. Weather they are using drugs or not.

My girl friend wrote a book about drug addiction .... she believe a person has no control. I strongly disagree ..... you are always responsible for everything you do. Good or bad. Blaming bad behavior on drugs / alcohol is just a cop out if you ask me.

Because when people are deeply hooked and haven't got the money they have to steal etc. Obviously! And they are DESPERATE!

You need to breath, eat , sleep , etc.

They do not need to steal .... they choose too. There is a huge difference.

I believe these people are thief's even if they never did drugs. They would be the same. In no way do I believe it is any other way.
