Need a little help here. I've gone over several diagrams showing how to properly configure the GC Pro & GCX to change the 3 channels and FX Loop of the DR. I have setup channels 5,6,7 & 8 to control chan's 1,2,3 and FX Loop respectively. The DR will default to the orange (crunch channel) but will not turn off this channel when I select another. So I can have all 3 channels + the FX loop on at once. Naturally this caused the switching mechanism in my DR to fry and it is undergoing repairs at this time. I've also contacted Voodoo Lab. My question is how exactly do I need to configure this setup, what should the assign knob be set to, and is there anything else I need to be aware of (certain type of cable, momentary/latching, etc.) Thank You in advance!

Set the switch to "footswitch", this will default it to no channel, but will be clean if no channel has been selected.

Then, wire up your channels/FX loops respectively to how you want them, but make sure only one channel loop is active at a time.

Sorry if this really isn't clear, I'll try to explain myself better if I need to.

i used a GCX switcher with my rectos for a while..
if you are not using the "SOLO" function... you will only need 3 loops to switch everything on a 3 channel recto.. (since you dont want the SOLO function)

you will need a loop for channel 1, a loop for channel 3 & a loop for the FX loop.
on every 3 channel recto the default setting is CHANNEL 2. So in order to make it switch to CH 2? you just make sure the Loop for CH1 and the LOOP for CH 3 is not ENGAGED. Which puts you back to the default channel... CH 2.

When using the GCX loops to control an ASSIGNED External switch of the 3 ch RECTOS. Just make sure you plug one end of the 1/4 cable to the ASSIGNED LOOP Jack labeled "OUT". not the "IN" or the "SEND" or the "RETURN". The other end of the 1/4 cable goes to the desired ASSIGNED External switch you want that particular GCX LOOP to control off/on. THe RECTOs external switches need to be "closed" to work. ALso if you hook up to either the "IN", "SEND", "RETURN".. you may damage the GCX and the RECT AMP...

so to recap.

clean channel 1 ... only have the loop controlling CH 1 Turned to "ON"
ALL other channel assigned loops to be turned "OFF". fx loop can be "ON" if desired

Channel 2 (default settin) have the loops controlling CH 1 & CH 3 to "OFF".. you can have the loop controlling the FX loop to "ON".. if desired.

Channel 3..... only have the loop controlling CH 3 Turned to "ON". All other channel assigned loops to be turned "OFF".

As for the knob?? I kept it in FOOTSWITCH>. mode. the rear external switches override that knob anyway.

if want more info.. or a better idea SEnd me a message with your email.. i will send you some pics.. and wiring diagrams..

ALSO>. HOLLER AT NICK AT VOODOLABS>> HE DREW ME A Schematic of how to plug up my RIG... he might do the same for you.. if he is still working there..

Thank You Refixer and dgabriel! I did contact Nick at Voodoo Lab some time ago but the diagram they had drawn me showed all three channels wired. You're the second post I've read that mentioned the orange channel as being default and to wire just the 1st and 3rd. I'm awaiting the repair of my Boogie now and I'm hoping it is finished this week so I can put the knowledge you folks gave me to use! This has been or I'm sure it will be a costly blunder on my behalf. Should've used the Boogie forum sooner!!? Thanks again to you two!

yeah this is the same for my TRIPLE RECTIFIER>. 2nd channel is default.. holler if you get buzzing, humming.. etc.

actually i had a lot of pedals hooked up the first time around with my switcher/mesa rig. At certain venues it would hum and have odd noises. I realized to just use the basic pedals.. Wah, tubescreamer, noise gate in front of amp... then a pretty good rack effects unit in the effects loop. I kept the effects to just Chorus, harmonizer, delay. and some reverbs.. all in my effects loop... There was always a drop in levels when the EFFECTS loop was Assigned to "ON". That is why i had the "SOLO" hooked up to a GCX loop. that way i just Cranked up the "SOLO" to bring the RECTO's loop back to even SOUND LEVEL.

I had the RECTO's SEND to 85-90%.
the WET was around 30%.

start of simple by getting your basic clean, rhythm, lead sounds.

Gabe.

Gabe, the way I had this setup was a AW-1 Auto wah in loop 1(used to have a MD-1 and a BOSS comp.), an MXR EVH phase in loop2 and a BOSS DD5 delay for longer lead and ambient delays in loops 3 & 4. Then 5,6,7,and 8 for the DR channel/FX Loops switching. Of course this will slightly change when I reset everything with the advice you guys gave. I also use a Marshall JVM 410H which has been a sheer delight to set up because of it's MIDI capabilites. Simplicity at it's finest! Not much for the front end just a Crybaby 535 and a TU-2 tuner. I don't use any boost pedals as IMO the Mesa and JVM have all the gain in their solo channels that I could ever want. Always been a fan of amp gain and not pedals. Lastly the Intellifex being an older "blackface" unit and only capable of 440 ms of delay I use for reverb, chorus, flange, short delays and the first all digital Rocktron "HUSH" applications. I also use a Line 6 Spider 3 2x12 for practice and for looping with a BOSS RC-20 while live. It's nice to be able to separate the loop amp from my main as it avoids that channel switching and what I refer to as "ducking" with the signal if your using only one amp to loop and to play thru. As soon as I can get my DR back and get this rig back up and kicking I'll post again with the results. I've got a few pics of my gear and a shot of the wiring before my Rec went down and just before the GC Pro and GCX here:
