G major Channel switching (road king)

K .. so me and my friend(has a road king) are getting his rig up to MAJOR MIDI par standards. He purchased a G major because its supposed to switch up to 4 channels.. I know it can.. I just dont know how to make it do so. Its so confusing due to the 1 switch jack on the back of the processor. It tends to become a mess of Stereo Y cables and an occational headache.


if anyone knows how to solve this problem. Please assist!

i have road king and am trying to do same ething. havent started but b4 i got midi controller (ground control pro)


ive had my g major for like a year and half and i remember in the book you gotta set like the pulses in the I/O part of the interface and you need ceretain like MALE/FEMALE or GROUND/TIP something like that cables to connect in the back of the head where each channel has its own footswitch input...


its in the g major manual its not that hard i just havent read it in almost 2 years. if u dont have it it can be downloaded in .pdf format at the website. google tc electronic.

OK. The G-Major has TWO in built relays - so it can only switch two of the external inputs at the back of the Road King. You'll need a single Y cable connected to the back of the G-Major with the two mono jacks going into the Road King.

If you want to control up to eight of the Road King's externally controllable features, check out products like Amp Gizmo, Axess Electronics AC8 (needs custom cable), or the GCX Audio Switcher from Voodoo Labs.

Hmmm....according to the manual you can switch up to 4 channels - so there must be more to it. I had the G Major before, and I will admit that the manual was not clear as to how to arrange things to switch 4 channels. :?

Hi JAZZGEAR,

What TC Electronic mean is that the two relays can have 4 permutations:
OFF-OFF, OFF-ON, ON-OFF and ON-ON.

Whether those permutations map down to switching 4 channels depends entirely on the how the footswitch circuitry of the amp is wired. On the RoadKing, switching a single function uses up two of the permutations e.g. OFF-OFF and OFF-ON would switch the function associated with the second of the two relays. Hope that helps.
