FX Loop on a Single Rec Series 1

hey guys

I have been using my single rec for sometime and i was wondering,

I am using a Boss CH-4 and a Marshall Reflector through the FX loop at the back of the amp.

Where should i have the FX mix set to??

I read in the manual that it should be set low and the pedals volume should be set high, however i get no effect sound until i turn the FX mix control up to about just over half way???

I have been using it with the fx mix all the way up to 100%!!

Would that cause any muddying to my sound at all??

wicked. so basically as i turn the master up the effects will kick in more!!

so where do you recommened that i should set the FX loop knob?
