a mellow, spacey groovy thing.....
....i'm not saying that if you are slightly altered it wont work as well....
;)

really experimented with clean guitar tones on this one...
and a lot of walking finger bass....
the drums are completely synth, so this whole thing is a bit of a new twist for me.

currently this one works as an instrumental....
but i'd like to try a different approach with it.
i'm working out a lyric and melody for it right now.....
would love to hear any comments or suggestions....

so, i wanted to show you the shortscale custom guitar i used on this one......

guitar used:
The Williams Special is a Les Paul-Strat-Mustang-Explorer hybrid, with hollow body cavities, Mustang scale length, built like a paul with mahagony and maple top, with vintage-dimension strat body, explorer headstock.

a custom build (obviously!) i think it's pretty unique...

started out with a EMG SA assembly, that was changed to a pair of Wilde L-280's in neck and middle, with a duncan Lil 59'r in the bridge.

folks sometimes think that the bridge pickup is moved out, but it's really the neck and middle that are moved towards the bridge, because of the scale length and the 24 frets...
it's kinda like brian may's red special that way.....

dodger..

yes!

like a mustang,
which was my first 'good' electric guitar.

also, the same as a jaguar.....
but it is setup to feel and play more like a les paul...

and like i said, somewhat based on the brian may red special,
i've played a couple of the clones (burns, guild) of the may guitar,
i must say this one is superlative in it's own ways,
but does not sound like mays guitar at all.

That's really freaky-cool! I love how you layered the guitars. Were you using an envelope filter for that wah effect?

kiwi

thanks for listening man...
yea, that's an envelope follower, which ever one is modeled in the POD XT

it's a fun effect, but i would rarely ever use something like that, don't have one on my pedalboard

Hey Gonzo, what's up?

Yes, I have joined the Mesa amp club. (x3 as of tomorrow!)

This sounds good. Definitely a fun tune to work with. Like the way you did it. Be interested to hear where it goes from here.

hey dream...
thought this one had died out....
but thanks for checking it anyway...

of course, this is the only song i've posted that ISN'T mesa...

its all direct thru a pod xt.

i'm thinking about breaking it up a bit, adding some fresh guitar parts and doing a vocal across the top of it....
adding in some kind of vocal hook that i hope can tie it all together.

I just looked into these thread for the first time and saw your posts so I had to check them out. Look forward to hearing it if you revise the track.

Good to see you here. Hope all is well.
