Someone asked me for advice on how to properly ship an amp head...there was a great Harmony Central tutorial but with the new site I can't seem to find it.

Anyways, I may as well share, this is the method I use:
First I take out the big tubes in the back and wrap them in bubble wrap.
I then put the bubblewrapped tubes safely into the back of the head.
I then bubble wrap the whole head in a couple of layers.
I then cut out styrofoam pieces, maybe 1/4-1/2" thick, that I buy that at home depot.
and I tape the styrofoam to each side so that the amp is completely surrounded by styrofoam. I then box it up with cardboard that I shape/cut out myself. I then repeat the process, wrapping the boxed amp in another layer of styrofoam, and then in another box, so that the amp is double boxed. This should safely get your amp to your destination. I have shipped several Mesa heads this way, and even a couple 1x12 heavy combos to Japan and they all arrived safely.

It takes a good 6-8 hours, but I think it's worth it in the end for the amp to arrive safely.
