My son has an Eden WT400 with a Eden D212XLT and a D210XST. He loves the cabs, so they are staying, but the 400 is getting old and needs to be a backup now. I have a Dual Rect Tremoverb head w/(2) 212 recto cabs that I play and he loves the Mesa sound as much as I do.
But which bass amp? We're looking at the M-Pulse 600, the BB750 or the 400+ but not sure which suits better. He plays funk slap/pop chili peppers stuff to rock and metal. He plays a EBMM Stingray, a Fender Jazz and an Peavey Cirrus 4; but the Stingray is his go to bass. The WT400 runs 400w @ 4ohms with the two cabs. It's good but he wants more rock tones than it gives him and, I don't know, more attitude out of the amp.
I know, its the same old "Which one for me" crap, but any guidance that can be offered would be helpful. We do not have much opportunity to try out different Mesa lines, so want to know what you guys think.

I currently play through the M-pulse 600 and would suggest this head without hesitation. The M-pulse 600 is twice as large as the 300 and I have found this to be very versatile, powerful, and capable of producing various tones depending on the style and weather using fingers, slap, or pick. On occasion, I have used the tubes only with compression and a BB Bass Pre amp and other times I throw in the MOSFET and that really tightens up the bottom end when I use a pick. I have attempted tweaking the tubes with various manufactures and have found the combination I like in the 1st and 2nd position. As far as having enough juice to power a band, it has more than enough. Moreover, it has a XLR output with groundlift and can be plugged directly into the PA. Another cool feature is the mute/tune. With just a few steps and a "click" instant tune and with no stage noise. I have ran an effect loop with ease of use for some of those alternate sounds. The two slaves are pretty cool too. I plug several 15 cabs along with the Powerhouse 1000 and it can push plenty of sound through the whole set up. As far as cost, it is absolutely worth every penny I paid for and is my buddy on stage. Good professional equipment. Wish I had it sooner than a year and half ago.

As far as my axe, for some reason the Lakland has really grown on me. I still love my Ernieball Bongo 5 but that Lakland...It helps to have a good guitar too.

Thanks for the input!
A question I have about the M-Pulse is whether you can create any gain distortion or whether you would need to rely on pedals? That is why the BB750 is in the running. But I like the idea of the compression control on the M Pulse, especially since he goes between slap and pop and finger playing. He doesn't use a pick. He uses a Boss GT6B for his distortion and compression now.

Can anyone else chime in on their amp? I have also heard good things about the M-2000, I haven't heard one before, but looks interesting on paper.

Well I run the same as him Eden Cabs- EB's MM and all run through a 400+, A MM through a 400+ is just the sweetest combo out there I also play Chilli's through to Rush and it just kill's every style I play. The slap sound is great with the natural compression tubes give you and when you dig in you get a nice amount of dirt in your tone to cut through.
