Took about 2 weeks in my IIC+.
What was I thinking!?
I got them before the massive price hike ($70 to $150!) but I don't think I should have had those in that amp.
Is the plate voltage to high?

The Siemens are usually advertised for 450V or so, but they can be used up to 500V. You may want to look at your Simul sockets and make sure pins 1 and 8 are connected. Mesa did not do this when the amp was made, but they recommend it now for use with EL34's. It's the first mod I do when getting one and it's very simple. I have never had even a hint of an EL34 going bad or blowing.

On a lighter note, my 1987 Marshall 2555 Jubilee came new with a quad of Siemens and they are still running.

Could be huh!? I have done a few gigs though and no probz. Today they were glowing BLUE.

So I need to do something for a fact to run 34's on the outside sockets? I say this because while I can change tubes and bias amps I'm a virgin to anything more.
  Would pics help?

Check for continuity between the tube socket pins on either side of the "keyway" in the socket. Tubes removed and power off of course. 8)
I've been down this road, for sure.

What heading should I use to do a search ?

Did your amp run like mine w/ 34's? (for say 30 hrs?!)

Cool thread! Thanks! ...But it never finishes!? How'd it turn out?

I did have 2 34's in the outside and it blew when I switched to Class A like you. The same deal.

If I run all 4 sockets w/ 6L6's I should be fine... right?

The amp is running fine now with all Sylvania tubes, and a checkup at Boogie. All 6L6's should work fine. 8)

Excellent thanks. 8) So I shouldn't use 34's in the outside sockets until I get that switched- correct?

I have 4 415's, but they might not be matched. + the 415's don't have any "codes" on them. :?:

I just tried 4 6L6's in the amp and the 34's do really add a nice warmth. I guess I'm going to have to do something.

Edit: I'm diggin' 4 6L6 in the amp now. Cranked it up a bit today and I was happy!

Alrighty, I read this entire thread twice and the other one that was linked here, as well. So should I take this pin 1-8 mod as a "must-do" for my MKIII Simul Green? I am also running Mesa's 450 Siemens and got them before the price hike ...hence I DON'T want to blow them. So is this mod something I need to do regardless, or should I check for redplating first? Thanks for bringing this up!!!

1 and 8 should already be connected on the Green Stripe from the factory.
I've seen them done as far back as black dots.

Ahhh perfect! ...I should have figured YOU'd be the one to know. Thanks a bunch BB!!

To the best of my knowledge none of them did....
If you call Mesa they still have some (not cheap) and can tell you the color range of the current stock. Pretty sure what they have left are fairly hot tubes.

Thanks! Big bucks but maybe! I'm actually happy TODAY w/ the 440's. Everything sounds great in these amps!

It's better than red. Try connecting pins 1 and 8 on the circuit board or socket and see how she does.

I do have an early model so I bet its set for 6L6's. Today I missed the 2 34's. (yesterday I didn't) Do you have any pics I can? Maybe I should send it to Boogie?

Unless it has been sent back to Boogie for repairs, no C+ came with these pins connected from the factory. As far as the mod, it's so easy, Oscar The Grouch could do it.
