I recently heard a guy play an axe-fx ultra through a couple of atomic powered cabs in a bar gig. It was quite simply the biggest, baddest sound I have ever heard in a bar. He did "No More Tears" and it shook the place without being offensive.

I am not gassing for an axe-fx either. I just appreciated it for what it was. I have a feeling it would have a hard time with the tones (bluesy/60s/slashy) type stuff I do.

AXE FX is bad to the bone, dudes. It can do anything you want. I wouldn't have sold my Mark V if it didn't replace it and then some. I'm using a SLA-2 power amp. Works great.

This is an old thread brought back from the dead by the way!

Well...a voice from the past!
How you doin' JP?
I have heard side by side comparisons between the AxeFX and tube amps. What I heard tells me there is something about tube amps that I still have not heard fully reproduced from any solid state modeler, IMHO.

But they are getting closer and the AxeFX likely has got to be #1 in that arena.

I cannot argue against the versatility and weight savings, while still getting killer tone. I often use my POD and Crate power block combination for practice/jams/small gigs for these reasons. An AxeFX would be even better, but not going to be able to afford one anytime soon.
Take care! :D

Happened again last night! I was set on putting the Mark IV on craigslist to finance a new Axe FX and decided to play her one last time. Two hours of Simul-Class goodness later it was decided that the IV will NEVER leave me. I still want an Axe Fx but I'll have to save up or sell blood or something else.
