I was having all kinds of problems with my single recto. I just wasn't getting the tone I expected or wanted out of it. I had been forced to run the speakers from my old 2x12 combo as my cabinet as the recto was something of a deal and an impulse buy. Today, I spent a couple hours checking out combos with the thought of replacing my recto and old combo with something new. I ended up walking out with a H&K 4x12 with greenbacks for $300. Now the combo handles the cleans and the recto handles the dirty and it sounds fantastic. There is something to be said for having the right tool for the job.

It was used but in near perfect condition. I can't wait to do some recording with it, I'm like a kid in a candy store now.

+1! holy crap dude, is it in good condition? Congrats man! Also, can you comment how the Recto sounds with the greenback speakers? Have you eer tried vintage 30's to compare them tonally? I'm just interested in the differences of the speaker tone with a Recto. Thanks

It sounds fantastic. I had V30s in my mesa road ready cab a number of years ago and was actually looking for something with V30s in it when I tried the H&K. It's in nearly perfect condition and I think it works better for the tones I'm trying to find than the V30s would have. The V30 cabs I tried didn't sound as smooth as the greenbacks, the mildly distorted tones were a little more harsh with the V30s.
