Found a new sound out of my DR thanks to SOIL :)

My band recently opened for SOIL (and man were they good live. Honor to play with them). A.J., their lead player, and I hung out and talked shop. He plays through a DR also, and I checked out his red channel settings and tried them out.

He runs

Bass 1 o'clock
Mids 2 o'clock (edit: I had 2:30, but I don't think it's quite that high).
Treble 10 o'clock
Presence 10 o'clock
gain 2 o'clock

I must say I like my tone (and his). I never would have thought to run the mids so high, but the mid control actually gives me a lot of top end, and it's not as harsh and grainy, not to mention the cut through is awesome.

Just thought I'd share these with the group.

Us old guys always ran a lot of Mids on our amps.

It's them young whippersnappers that "scoop" 'em out.

I gotta run downstairs and try those setting out now.

I thought AJ was playing the new Randall he is advertising.

I dig Adam's LPC with the flames.

Those guys are cool. I hung out with them one night when they were recording their new cd in LA.

Not at the show we played with them. He had two triple channel DR heads, one active, one spare.

This was maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago.

And yes, the Custom flame is bad ***. I got to play it for a bit.
