I have a Pedal Snake ariving in the mail this week. For those not familiar with them , here is there website http://www.pedalsnake.com/page.php?id=1 If anyone has any experience with an easy way to make my Mark IV footswitch work with this let me know. It is not a must have, but it would be nice to only have one cable running to my amp from my pedalboard, but seeing how I am going from 4 to 2 cables, it is a good enough step forward if I dont get it hooked up that way.

I dont think that's going to be easy. The mark iv's footswitch cable has a special connector. So, the pedalsnake guys have to figure out which cable can connect the amp on one end and your footswitch on the other. Besides, the end that connects into the amp has some sort of latching device that prevents the cable from disconnecting. Not sure if pedalsnake can do all that. Even if it can, its going to be crazy expensive for that long a cable.

Your best bet, use one of those midi switchers, connect your midi pedal or GT-8 or whatever on your end and switch on the mark's end. I also was exploring the pedalsnake option and realized its not going to work easily for a mark iv. But let us know if you do find a solution. :)

This isn't a "solution" but I use a pedalsnake with my MkIV, but not running the MkIV footswitch through it. I basically reduced all my pedalboard wires, cables, etc... into the pedalsnake, including my midicontroller. I basically just roll my pedalsnake cable out with my MkIV footcontroller line, side by side. I know you are looking to get it all into the one cable. However, you need to talk to Jody at Pedalsnake and see if it is even possible. As mentioned above, the mesa line has unusual connectors and switching, as well as "power" for the LED's. It may be more complex than Jody at Pedalsnake can cover with his pigtail system.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I will probably like you just roll my footswitch alongside my pedal snake. I dont want to fool with going midi, cause that is just more stuff to throw money at.

BTW, what are your specs if you dont mind sharing? And how much did it cost you? Do you have the basic power, fx send/return or anything more? Thanks

Specs? Explain a little more on that. I will tell you what I ordered.
I ordered the 4m18 base snake,rs2,rs1, and mf1. The base is the main line. The rs2 will be for my effects send and return, the rs1 will go to the input of my amp, and the mf1 will send the power to my pedals. Let me know if you want any more info! Cost was 100.96 plus shipping. Basic shipping is about 13 bucks with two day air at 20 and next day around 40 I think.

If you are good with a soldering iron, it's very easy to do what you want. I modified my MKIV footswitch cable years ago because I thought it should disconnect at both ends. It was a simple fix and fixed the problem of cramming it's cable into a hot amp on teardown.

Here's a thread where I mentioned it.

Regarding Pedalsnake, I wouldn't touch the stuff. I've made my own in a day and having soldered ends is way better than all of those dongle adapters. The MKIV footswitch connector is a standard 6pin XLR. Just buy a length of snake cable (however many channels you need) and solder on the ends that you want. I've run everything out to the front (guitar, loop, mic, power, etc.) with no problems ever. Dress it all up with shrink tubing and you have a tour ready snake that is bullet proof. I have one that I made 15 years ago that is perfect. The one I made 3 years ago is still perfect and I'm about to make a new one for a rack I'm finishing.

If you can flow a good solder connection, your snake is whatever you want it to be.

Kinda pissed now. The snake was supposed to be here yesterday then UPS rescheduled it for today, then fricken UPS rescheduled for Monday due to the damn weather....Why did I pay 2nd day air :?:
Edit...Show cancelled due to weather , so I feel a lil better
