I put a floyd rose on my strat copy Peavey a while back:

It took some alterations, but it worked out!

The Yngwie Malmsteen Strat used to have a floyd rose, but apparently they removed it from the new edition.

Musicman, how hard was it to install? did it require routing?
i know you can download diagrams from floyd rose website.

I had one of these for about 6 months a few years back. Bright pink finish (can you say METAL?), nice Kahler, quick neck. I think it could be one of Fender's crowning achievements!

I used to have a Floyd loaded Strat. I loved it but opted to sell it before I sold off my last Jackson. I liked the Jackson neck and board better. The Fender did resonate better though. This was back in the early 90's. I much prefer Kahlers now if a trem is necessary though I do have an American Standard with a standard trem. One V I have has a custom Kahler built at Kahler while I waited. I just find Kahler trems to be smoother feeling. I thought I saw Floyd loaded Strats at GC last time I was there. I am not sure if they were American, Mexican, Japanese, or Korean though because I didn't take the time to really look at them.

MMMMMMMMMMM Kahler.

wrong, the Malmsteen strat has never had a Floyd. You are thinking of a different guitar. You may be confusing the Malmsteen with the Ritchie Sambora strat....it had a Floyd on some exitions.

I've never seen a Floyd on a Malmsteen Signature from the factory.

Yngwie has had a few guitars with Floyds but I've not seen him use one since the '80's. He actually used an early non-fine-tuning Floyd on a Strat he played for some Rising Force shows during their first tour of Japan.

Yes, the cavity had to be routed to make room for the floyd and the slightly different spring path. Also had to have the holes for the posts drilled by a professional. I was too weary to do it myself. Like I said, it took some work and alterations, but it is AWESOME compared to the cheap POS Peavey bridge that was on it from factory that would barely stay in tune if I even touched the trem bar. I can bombs away with it now and it stays in perfect tune. The lock nut helps with that I suppose. :)
