While waking up this morning I finally decided to mic my FJA Mesa and record a sample. Thought you guys might want to hear a (very) brief clip.

This is using an SM57 straight into a Line6 Toneport Ux2 into Reaper. One guitar track on the left, one guitar track on the right with no EQing or effects of any kind. And PLEASE don't mind the playing. I had only drank a half cup of coffee! Enjoy.

EDIT:

I went back today and doubled the guitars with my maple-topped guitar. Sounds pretty big.

Sounds awesome man, really dig your sound!

Was that with EL34 or 6L6 tubes?
Can you tell me what sort of mid and gain levels you were using there?

Thank you sir.

And that was running TAD 6L6WGC with a bold/rectifier tube setting.

Bass, Mids and Treble were all at noon, with the presenceat about 11:00, and Gain was at 10:00 with the boost pulled.

Wow! That much gain with the knob at only 10 o'clock?? Where the hell does those FJA mods get that extra gain from? I thought the Mesa had All-Tube gain, unless he added another preamp tube I don't see what he could've done to increase gain.. :?:
Sounds great anyway! Really thick tone. Are you able to get great lead tones out of it?

Yeah it's not another preamp tube, but there is a tap from one of the power tubes that is jumped to the push/pull pot and then into the board. Sounds like it is adding another stage or something I dont know.

As far as lead tones, I can have Channel 3 set like you heard it, and then put the gain at noon on Channel 2 and have Vai-esque sustain. Just goes on for days. Crazy, huh?

Seriously, your recto finally closed the gap between a great amp and a COLOSSAL ULTIMATE FUCKING MACHINE.
Seriously, it sounds great.

Just the standard mod for clarity and fizz removal along with a push/pull gain boost. I had already done the Bias mod and presence pot mod myself.

Sounds fucking tits man, I dig that gallopy riff in the middle.

**** i love rectos!

Nice playing too!

I dearly miss my Recto. :( I think I sold the wrong amp. :( :(

Thank you mang!

......and I told ya so.

I can pull a Rectoish tone from the Stiletto on the Fluid Drive mode, but it lacks the low end.

I'll get another sometime. :( Just don't know when that will be.

methinks it might be worth letting John have his way with my recto someday. **** that sounds great!! As much as I wish I had an electra dyne, I didn't unload my recto for this very reason!
