Hey everyone! I've been a Mk V owner for about a year now, and I've got to say, I've gotten some of my favourite tones of all time this past year. I had to give up a really lovely 65 Amps London Pro rig to buy the Mk V, but I haven't looked back since. I've always been a Marshall kinda guy (still own an AFD100), but I think I've definitely found MY amp and tone, finally!
A bit of background - I've always gone through heaps of gear, and about two years ago I decided to start a guitar blog, just for the heck of it (the link is in my signature if you'd like to visit!). Since then, it's been a really fun ride that's taken me to NAMM for the first time this year, and I've been lucky enough to meet a lot of my musical heroes along the way as a result.
So, as a result of the gear reviewing thing, I've been looking for a better way to mic up the Mk V. My knowledge of mic placement really only runs as far as putting my Audix i5 up on the speaker, maybe a little bit off axis... nothing too clever. However, every time I break down the rig to go to a jam or gig or whatever, I can never quite repeat the recording setup... not ideal.
On a recent trip to Tokyo, I ended up picking up a Two Notes Torpedo Live... and it's probably one of the best investments in gear that I've ever made. I don't think I've had this great and this consistent a recorded tone ever. EVER!
If you were wondering how the Mark V likes the Torpedo Live, the answer is... it likes it very much! I don't feel that there is any degradation in tone, and the reactive load definitely feels just like playing into a speaker cab - whatever speaker cab I want, in fact!

Cheers,
