Took the dual to a jam with another guitar player and drummer. Mostly doom metal. My rig was a Goldtop with P-90s into the dual with a Redstar 2x12" cab loaded with Eminence Lynch Super V12s.
The cab is really bass heavy and much larger sounding than a lot of 4x12s. Add the nice deep bass of a 6L6 loaded dual and the walls were shaking. Seriously, the other player commented on how big sound my rig was. He plays more in the mid range and cut through quite well while I moved the lower registers. The combo worked perfectly. Channel 3 has all the gain I could ask for with pretty low noise using P-90s. Not sure a P-90 is a great match so next time it is the SD JB/Jazz combo.
Mainly played through channel 3 and still need to get that less heavy sounds of channel 2. Not there yet.
Channel one sounds okay but nothing to write home about. Playing a Black Metal pedal through the clean channel sounded fantastic and a bit more mid-range.
I have a quad of JJs EL34L's on the way. Maybe that will help bring out the tones in channel 2.
