Favortie tubes in V1?

I have been trying different tubes in V1 and im interested in what you guys are using.
I have found that a chinese 12ax7b sounds waaay better for metal type tones. However it is lower gain than the jj, and as a result the only real crunch you an get on the clean channel is in tweed.

Anyone have success with other tubes?

I find the stock jj too dark, and a wee bit grainy.

The chinese does the fluid lead tones so much better.

Im thinking of a EH next.

i realized I have enough mullards and RCAs to completely tube the amp that way. So that's what I'm going to do.

Just tried the EH in V1, too grainy , harsh in tweed, harsh overall, good definition tho.

trying one tube from one brand is useless. if you take five EH tubes none of them are going to be alike.

my fav for V1 in most any of my amps are NOS Sylvania 7025 followed by NOS JAN 5751. Of course, it's all subjective.

i find each brand has an overall specific flavor. I can almost"taste"t the sound of a jj or chinese. At first i didnt like the chinse cuz it made the Mk v sound too much like my bugera which had a chinese v1. Its amazing no matter what amp it is, you WILL hear the charachter of that specific tube, there no way to dial it out.
