Is it necessary to leave the metal covers on the preamp tubes if the amp is going to stay in the house? Looks like they would cause more heat buildup to me. Thanks

Regardless of it leaving the house or not, they are there to keep them from rattling loose. Combo amps are subjected to all kinds of vibrations.

Vibration can do some weird things to objects that are not securely fastened. You'd hate to lose a tube in the middle of practicing or playing at home and fry something on the amp!

+1 to MusicManJP6's post.

Also, they will provide some basic RF/EM shielding.

Heat WILL NOT be a problem. If anything the metal cans probably insulate the preamp tubes from the heat of the power tubes.

Thanks for the quick response. I just changed out tubes for the 1st time and was wondering as they are not mentioned in the manual.
