looks nice. The headshell is new, it's not a 1992 headshell.

And what's all this talk about pre1000? There's no such thing.

is that yours? looks very clean.

however, it seems REALLY overpriced. especially with scuffs/scratches/screws missing/tube guides missing. i would think it was overpriced even if it was mint. and there is nothing mystical about pre 1000. it is pre500 +/- a few amps

El - how can you tell it is a new headshell?

it is mine and I invented "pre1000" just like "pre500" was invented from probably some small time bedroom player.

pre1000 just represents the fact that it is 1992 RevF series loop.

As far as overpriced claim.. how do we know what is overpriced? matter of opinion only? Well sure.. then I would like to say any Valve amp over $500 (despite what it is) is overpriced. And that's my opinion.

But with valid proof, my opinion means squat out in the open market. Just as yours...

I have a ebay link of a 1992 blackface in much WORSE condition that sold for $1870. Would you like me to pull it up?

So the fact is.. it's value to anything is what people are willing to pay in the open market.

And I promise you that any 1992 won't go for less than $2k in a year and I promise you that they won't go for no less than $2.5k in 2yrs... and they are just going to increase as time goes on (if you can find one in good shape)

Lastly, in comment to the new headshell. Mesa don't make small logos anymore. I cannot find any evidence that this headshell is replaced.

whoa. easy there.

actually, there is something to the "pre 500" claim. different trannys and boards in them. pre 1000 doesn't mean anything (at least to us here on this forum).

As to it being overpriced, yes it is all a matter of opinion. as much as i know i wouldn't pay that much for it, i'm sure someone will jump on it and see it as a great deal.

I'm not upset. I just wanted to point out some facts in regards to value. I'm sure there are many people that feel the same as you.

Just like my opinion the "pre500" have no better tone than my $800 1999 Dual Recto. The Rev F is the most amazing Recto that I have ever played. That's the 'real' recto tone that I feel people should seek. Just because of the heart pounding darker crunch and sustaining leads. My 0064 tone wasn't anything that I wanted. It was midy/trebly and bright compared to the"recto" tone we seek.

And My opinion is that anyone who pays more than $800 for them is buying it for 'bragging rights' not usable tone.

But my opinion means squat.

But I can honestly say out of Dozens and Dozens of Rectos that I owned and various models (triple/dual) and various (serial numbers/years from R0064-2006s) This Rev F blackface has the best cleans.

I also have a Vintage 1985 JCM800 for sale. Probably overpriced at $1400. But after I took a quick look on ebay to see they sell for as much as $1500... I'll beat that market it sell cheap. just like the 1992 blackface. It's $70 bucks cheaper than it will sell for. (and it might go for more than $1870 ebay- who knows)

Sorry for the soap box. I just wanted to make a point.

if it's the best recto you've played, why are you selling?

Because I have about $10k worth of gear to move. And I need to buy some MarkIVs and Some Road Kings. I have customers waiting in line for them... therefore, i must sell some Rectos. ( I don't need 4 rectos in stock)

I'm a bedroom player, My personal amp is a randall RG and a $150 epiphone. LOL

EDIT: My GF is so good to me.. lol. She wants me to keep the BlackFace as my prize possession... and bragging rights and my kid's retirement. LOL

But I can't keep gear.. that was rule day one I started this biz. If I keep every piece of gear that I like, I'd have to buy a warehouse to store it. LOL

Boogie Classifieds
Post Boogies for sale and wanted. No dealers please.

^^ lmao! I'm not a dealer. Too much of a hassle to have a dealers license. I'm owner / operator of gear-vault.com and gear-monkey.com

I flip gear. As 95% of the other guys do on this site. that's not a dealer. I don't sell new gear bro.

NEVER buy new when you can buy used :p

You are correct, I didn't notice the small logo. What was replaced is the tolex...It also has the screw on back plate which is common of newer headshells.

As for who invented the term "pre500," it was none other than George Lynch back in the 90's.

Figures. Doesn't surprise that and over hyped guitarist started the nonsense pre500 hype.

I don't see or hear anything special about the tranny. Other than the tone is different... and not for the better. (of course that is my opinion)

Then again, I like the throaty and darker tone of the pre1000.

when you say the screw on back plate...do you mean the bar that protects the tubes and such?

Yes, like markIV have the clip on. I seen both style of clips and screws. I don't know when they changed it or how they started teh change process.

MKiv still use that style.

How much is your cut on each sale?

It's highly doubtful 95% of the people selling here are buying and flipping gear.
It's highly doubtful even 5% are doing what you suggest is going on here in the classifieds.

And you keep posting about your stuff on gear vault. Not much about any boogie items located anywhere else.
In a way that's not a problem except you are doing it to hype sales at your sight. You're even doing it in the non-boogie classifieds section.

It doesn't have the vibe of being informative for all here but a vibe of you trying to capitalize on the sales.
IMHO It's getting old!! Maybe back off a bit.
(fwiw I do visit your site. Maybe you don't have to push so hard to get people looking)

I disagree.

I've counted 4 familiar faces on the first page of this classifieds page alone who have flipped gear. Also they are highly respected members at Harmony-Central. I don't have a problem with it at all. I think if you get an opportunity to buy something cheap.. do it! play with it and sell it to make a few bucks. There is nothing wrong with that.

I posted other gear-vault seller's stuff over here because it's an amazing deal. Come on, tell me $450-$475 isn't a good deal for a Mesa Quad Preamp with footswitch. That's an amazing deal.. look on ebay and you'll them going for over $800-$900.

It's favorable for me to give Mesa brothers this opportunity. How much do I make off his sale? ALOT LESS THAN IT TAKES TO RUN THE SITE. If he sales the mesa preamp, I get maybe enuff to pay a little towards my monthly hosting fees. Gear-vault is virtually free. It's out of pocket expense for me. But I love doing it... it's my hobby next to playing guitar.

I don't see any difference of posting a good deal from gear-vault on here like we all do with ebay. and yes, I post ebay deals on here too, to share with other mesa members. If I find something stupid cheap.. and I can't buy it.. I post it here for someone else to buy. That's what I do. I'd rather see someone here get it.

btw, my username "gear-monkey' was just changed a few days ago. I PM'd Ned and asked him to change it for me... maybe you think I don't contribute anything to the boards because this username is new?

I post on other boards as well... I'm probably one of the biggest mesa fanatics here. I love em'!

So if you think I'm hitting it too hard, then I'll stop. Sure it might short change a good BB member to miss out on a great deal.. but I guess that is their loss since some people don't want me posting here about good deals.

Due to the cost of advertising gear-vault, I feel it was more beneficial to buy up stuff to resale stupid cheap to get the site heated up.. therefore people would benefit while I get exposure. It's win/win. Wouldn't you rather see some good ol' boy get something dirt cheap.. or would you rather me pay big time on google pay per click and franchise advertisement companies? I'd rather "PR" advertise... and so would the people buying stuff stupid cheap.

Like:

Recording headphones sold for $1
Boss metalzone sold for $22 (sell for $50-$60 ebay)
Vox wah $27 (so far)
Peavey 6505+ in perfect shape for $450

Those just some examples of the stupid deal that I ran to get exposure. I took a HUGE loss on this stuff. But I really came out ahead as it's thousands of dollars to advertise each month.

Dollars coming out of my pocket to give a virtually free service to buy, sell, trade exclusive for musicians. My goal was to help members eliminate selling music gear on ebay.. why sell there? The fees to sell one amp on there will cost as much as taking your girl on a romantic date and show her a great time. To sell on gear-vault will cost a few bucks (only if it sells) to put some change towards the monthly cost to run the site. It's hardly profitable! I'm not trying to get rich off members... I have potential making a few bucks using google ads. That's how I will make a few bucks a month. Not diggin in peoples pockets like ebay.

Sorry for the long thread.

Buy the way.. I found a great deal for someone.. a Vintage JCM 800 50 watt Half Stack (matching Marshall cab) and road case for only $800 bucks. It's on Craigslist somewhere. http://detroit.craigslist.org/msg/470513344.html

The headshell has been replaced. They changed to the screw on back plates during the rev G. Probably sometime in 94'-95'.
