Nice!

I just got my F-50 head last week. Haven't had much time to play it but I'm really liking it so far. I'm having a few problems with 'flubby' bass and 'icepick in the ears' highs on some settings that I'm hoping new preamp tubes will clear it up.

Are you using a recto cab (v30's)??

I'm using a Marshall 4x10 cab I'm pretty sure it's equipped with celestion 30 watt gold back speakers. I also have an early 70's Marshall 4x12 that I haven't tried it out with yet. Also, I live in an apartment so I haven't been able to turn the master up past 9 oclock or so. That may be part of the problem I'm having. The problem is at its worst when I'm using the clean channel with the gain turned up.

I've used this cab with the same guitar and a different head (JTM 45)quite a bit and didn't have this problem with it.

Holy crap.

I just re-tubed the preamp of my F-50 what a difference. I don't know if those mesa tubes were crap or what but the amp sounds way better now. I used Tung-Sols in the V1 and V2 positions and a pair of Ruby Tubes for the V3 and V4. I can't wait for the weekend so I can open the amp up a little. I'm thinking about buying another set of Tung-Sols to retube my Marshall with.

Anyway... I'm really happy with this amp now. I was a little concerned when I first got it but this seems to have fixed things up.

:D

yes, really good tones. I liked the overdriven tones you posted and now you've done a good job with "semi-cleans" too.
