I like the harmonic haze and saturation of Mark IV mode, but I also like the thump of extreme. Is there a way to make extreme mode seem more saturated (without using a boost)? Any tips?

I havent had good luck with boosts so far with mine. That is a good thing though! I think I will set my rc booster on the clean channel for a blues tone.

I just messed around with a little more, alas, at low volumes. But I did notice that it sounds better with the presence up higher than where I run it on Mark IV mode.

Maybe extreme works best for seven-string and drop-tuned stuff.

Wow, just played with extreme using my seven string for a little while. It sure shines for that application. I think I might like Mark IV the most for lead playing and metal on standard tuning, but extreme is best for drop and low tunings.

see i find that useing my 6 string in extreme sounds killer and when i switch to my 7 i gotta switch her down ot the mark iv mode...although i do use a maxon od808 infront for a lil extra pre grit

Pickup choice might make a big difference here, too. I've got a Blaze 7 on my 7-string. That pickup has a clear, scooped tone, and never gets muddy. On my 6-strings, I've got Crunch Labs or D-Sonics.

I too am not feeling extreme mode so much. But now it has just occurred to me to try my schecter (blackout pups and tuned to drop c) in extreme mode... I should do that. I have found that guitar to sound kinda flubby and mushy in mark iv mode

pick up choice is a huge diffrence i love that though, this amp takes the guitar, the guitar player and makes it unique. Also tube choice as well, try some diffrent tubes if your v1,v2, v3 and v5 see what happens.

Update: I finally got around to trying my Blackjack with the extreme mode, perfect match up! I don't know why I didn't think to try that out sooner
