I'm new to the Mesa game and earlier in the year bought a 5:50 Express and wondering if there's an amp that it matches up with, with reason, from years past. I have a lot of people ask me what Mesa it sounds like and since this is my first one, I don't know. From what I understand it took over the "F" series. Maybe it doesn't translate to an older Mesa, just curious. Thanks

Some people say it sounds like a Lone Star. I've never heard a LS but I once played a Blackface Fender Super Reverb side-by-side with a 5:25 and found that the Express had alot of the Blackface sound to it.

I think the 5:50 & 5:25 are the replacements for the F 50 & F 30 respectively. The F Series were based on the Studio & Dual Caliber amps. And it all probably goes back to the Mark amps eventually

I'd say the Express 5:50 is like a cross between a Lonestar and an F-50.
