Hey guys, I am having difficulty getting a new crunch tone for my Roadster at low volumes (bedroom levels). When I jam with my band, I can really easily get a nice crunch but at low volumes, even with my tubescreamer, I just can't get a nice crunch tone.

Can you guys give me some advice on how to EQ at low volumes?

YUCK to bedroom tones. They NEVER sound much better than a Peavey RAGE158.

That being said, for playing at bedroom levels I always turn the amp to 50watts / spongy variac. Then I turn bass up, mids down, and gain up. It will give a marginally better tone but it won't sound cranked. A good option is a smaller cab format like a 1 x 12 or 2 x 12 instead of a 4 x 12. The 4 x 12 destroys everything and kills small animals.

For these amps at low volumes, it's always good to have something like an MXR 10 band EQ and/or an attenuator on hand. It'll help those bedroom tones a ton.
