So, today at work we received an Electradyne Head. I'm really excited about this amp, it sounds really nice.

Here's a sound clip. It ends about 2:30 in, and then the original clip (which is too quiet IMO) keeps going for another couple minutes.

In the clip the amp has EL34s, and it is atop a Stiletto 4x12 with v30s. The guitar is a 2009 Gibson LP Traditional. It was recorded with a Boss Micro-BR. Sorry for the clipping in the latter part of the video (it's not too bad). The BR's condensor is sensitive and I'm still getting the hang of getting a loud enough signal without clipping the input.

it's real juicy in the hi gain mode, a little thinner sounding in the lo gain mode. I didn't change the knobs between clips until the end, where I turn the gain up in the hi gain mode.

(BTW, the good part of the clip is about 2:30 long. After that it goes back to the first take that I forgot to edit out. No clipping there, but it's a lot quieter.)

Yeah, it definitely is different. Even the stiletto is a lot different in feel and sound than this amp. But it's such a rockin' different.

can you attempt to describe the difference you hear b/w a Stiletto and ElectraDyne?

Wow. Very cool. I want one. I love the low-gain setting... even the high gain setting is not too fizzy or anything, still has lots of punch. Thanks for the clip!

Thanks for the clip.

I am willing to bet that the overdrive channel amp will scream with a nice boost or overdrive/distortion pedal in front of it.

Boosting it is next on the list. Tomorrow: Clip with 6L6s, my elitist, and a TS9.

yes there is very little fizz. kinda woody sounding or something.

The clean tone was 100% replica of Stairway to Heaven. Very nice.

But, OD tones....What were the tone control settings? There is no definition to the OD sounds....no mids. I like classic rock - big mids.

In the beginning of the clip he gives the settings. I believe he says the eq knobs are straight up (12 noon) except treble.

PHYREXIA: when you footswitch back and forth b/w clean, low, and high gain does the volume stay relatively constant with each of the 3? In other words, can you set the volume/master and gig live using the various 3 modes without tweaking the master everytime you switch modes?

must have missed that part as I was putting on headphones

Yowch! That is probably the most "cut" I have ever heard from a Mesa, and I own Mark III's! You are never going to get lost in the mix playing that amp. Sounds pretty unforgiving if you don't have the chops and rewarding if you do.

Hey err'body,

My grandma died early Friday and I haven't had a chance to get the other clips out. I'll try to get some this week.

There is a 2x12 and a 1x12 version of the Electradyne.

I hope my chops were good enough for the clip ;) I'll get real warmed up next time. :p
