I hear you. Over time I went from this:

to this:

I still have the recto but I traded the 4 x 12 for a bass guitar. Recto sounds pretty awesome though that extension cab so I'm not complaining.

I've used my ED through greenbacks. If you're already familiar with the sound of them they should sound every bit as awesome as you'd expect.

I'd lean towards open back for cleans and lead, closed back for rhythm. The Electra Dyne/Royal Atlantic cabs are rear ported and are a good marriage between between open and closed, allowing a more open response than totally closed while still providing good control of the speaker for tighter tracking.
