Anyone have any experience with ED cabinets and how they compare to the other Mesa offerings? Mainly interested in the ED, and 3/4 back, but I would be open to whatever. I've currently got a 60w Matchless 2x12 open back with a Customized Celestion G12H30 and Celestion 12M Greenback. I really like the tone coming out of my Mark V on the 90w mode and I don't want to damage the speakers. I play a wide variety of stuff, lots of low/mid gain tones (tele bridge pickup stuff), some heavy stuff. I'd rather sell the cabinet as a whole and get something else than swap the speakers. Any suggestions?

I have an ED 2x12 loaded with a v30 and c90 speaker and it has a 3/4 back (I believe they all come like that).

It is my favorite cab. It sounds HUGE, clear and has tons of low end. Very well built cab, but be warned - they are very hard to find and are usually a special order cab. I happened to walk into a store that had one sitting on the floor and bought it.

Good luck!

Right on, did yours come stock with the v30 and the c90? And when you say tons of low end, does it ever get muddy, or is it a tight low end. Thanks!

Mine came stock with the c90 /v30 combination. Love it!

Lons of clear low end - never get's muddy and is extremely tight. I play it with an ED head (and have tried it with a Tremoverb heat too) and it just sounds bad ***...

Great cab.

And when playing live which speaker to you have miked?

Good question - but alas, one I cannot answer. I do not play live. I don't even gig.

I do however prefer the blend of both speakers when jamming out.

Right on man! As long as your digging playing! I think I'm gonna go for the ED Cab.

I've plugged a Modded Marshall into my ED's speaker so i used the combo as a speaker cab and it sounded killer. So i imagine the ED cabs would sound great.
