I hear a lot on various forums about people wondering what the tone difference is between these two tubes in the mark III/IV simul-class amps are. I just got my SM57/preamp/usb recording setup, would anyone like some soundclips of a mark IV in class A mode with these two sets of tubes? anyone want any other kidns of soundclips? The two amps i have are a mark IVa and a Tremoverb head.

The difference in tone was between using these tubes in the outer sockets of class A amps, I finally got around to recording some ****. Its recorded with a SM57, slightly to the left of the speaker cone and a little bit off axis, same settings for each, no pedals or mixing (other than pan left/right).

EL34s : http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=464199&songID=8896997

6L6s : http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=464199&songID=8896998

These were recorded on Rhythm II through a celestion classic lead 80. not the best playing or most amazing riffs.

I love the running my MarkIV in class A with EL-34's with my Les Paul Custom. Gives you that Clapton bluesbreaker sound. Beautiful clipping and those nice bell tones way up high on the neck.
